Pro Tip for Office Documents on the Mac
If you're like me, your professors don't know how to distribute PDFs, only Word Documents, which are a pain in the ass on the Mac. By default, they'll open in Pages, which always pops up a “Review conversion warnings” sheet (ten points to anyone who knows how to disable that!).
Instead, you can just make the document files open in Preview.app:
- Right click on the file in the Finder and pick “Get Info”.
- Click the “Open With” drop down and pick “Preview”
- Click the “Change All” button below.
- You'll have to repeat this with both
*.doc
and*.docx
files.
Now your Word documents open in Preview. Nice.
